^{Here have some school work.
Rough for my Core Concepts class, we had to illustrate part of a story.
Chose Alice in Wonderland.
Like I said this is rough xD it's not overly refined haha there are a few things I gotta change.
But thought you guys might like to see what I'm up to.

Apologize fer the shitty photo, does not do this justice at all.
I usually take my paintings outside for photoshoots but it gets dark here at 5pm T__T And I'm home from school at 6:30

woah! this IS awesome! you know, it's an illustration I'd put in a wicked macabre book version of Alice in Wonderland, I really like how you used only black and white, and some gray scales, to add volume, shadows and lights to the picture, I could have guessed you'd do this scene in Alice, mostly because of the Cheshire Cat XD anyways, I also like how you drew the Cheshire Cat, its expression matches great with the ambience, and well, I also think you're quite into those type of expressions, which come out greatly; Alice looks funny though, but it's okay, she DOESN'T look bad, just a little off

the background in general looks great too, dark, dark everywhere... I like it! and the tree in the foreground has very neat shadowing, the texture of the bark comes out very well, it's a great illustration, Emily! keep up the amazing work!

by the way, have you seen a game that released some time ago that is a veeeeery wicked version of Alice in Wonderland? it's called American McGee's: Alice, and a more recent one came out 2 years ago called Alice: Madness Returns, well, the point is that it's got an amazing art scheme, it's very wicked and dark (a lot), specially the Card Guards, the part where the Spade/Diamond/anything-else goes is hollow... quite awesome XD

I now need to colour this in with colours, but I have no idea what colours I should use.
Any ideas will help. : P
And I'm actually changing the light all around for the good copy.

hmm, I think using the same color palette as in the book would be good, but with darker tones

yeah, I really think you'll like its style XD I haven't played any of the games, but I have a friend who is practically fascinated by them, hence me knowing about it XD
